Europe: Netherlands, Amsterdam
Amsterdam, Netherlands - the people are extremely courteous, the local police very helpful and kind, and it is so nice to go to a place where the people don't care what you do as long as you don't act as a threat to your own safety or others...
Take a direct flight!! Transferring in england is a pain!!! Go straight to any money (except checkpoint-they rip you off!!) And then go straight to the main concourse, buy your train ticket and go downstairs where indicated to the trains...it is very cheap and you will be there in approximately 15 minutes!!!
Try the Winston Hotel-cheap, but very nice with a very helpful staff!!! Very clean and safe-caution: street cons are common in Amsterdam-secure your money and valuables, and never allow yourself to be drawn into a conversation with a stranger on the street!!!
I flew Delta over and was extremely impressed with the level of service(at least in first...) The staff was very attentive and appeared to truly enjoy their work...the food was absolutely incredible and of very high quality...resist the offer of a second glass of champagne before take off or you will be drunk in twenty minutes!! Trust me!!
Read magazines, listen to music and sleep to kill time on the way...enjoy restaurants, visit the Ann Frank house and the holocaust monument. Enjoy the nightlife, but in moderation-only pick clean looking and well lit places if you choose to visit the coffee bars-again, watch yourself on the street....
Rent a bicycle!! Available at the train station, they are a cheap, fun and reliable way of getting around without having to figure out the traffic laws as bicycles have their own travel lanes on the road ways, and the police are liberal about driving styles for bikes, but very strict on cars!!!
Not realistic, Amsterdam is frankly a destination for adults...
