If you are looking for a real nature contact, there is no city in Brazil that can provide it to you more than Bonito. Located in the heart of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, is considered one of the most exhilarating places in the country. Thanks to the unrivalled things that the nature has prepared during thousands of years, and men knew how to take advantage without destroying.
Getting there is easy. You can go by plane up to Campo Grande(MS), rent a car or take a bus to go to Bonito. The distance of these two cities is 257km. If you are already in Brazil, the distance from Sao Paulo is 1014km and from Rio de Janeiro is 1444km.
One of the most requested hotels is the Zagaia Hotel. They offer breakfast and dinner, there are 3 swimming pools, sauna, and exclusive tourism agency. A room for a couple costs R$397,00 (R$1,00 = US$.39293).
If you don't want to spend a lot of money and you are with your family you can stay at La Paloma. A room for four people costs R$220,00 and they offer breakfast and they have a swimming pool. And if your money is really short you can stay in a International Hostling. It is very simple and costs only R$15,00, or go camping at Balneario Municipal (R$8,00).
The speciality of that area are the typical dishes made of fish like 'pacu' and 'dourado'.
You can eat these kind of dishes at Tapera restaurant.
One of the most visited places in Bonito is the Gruta do Lago Azul. After a walk, you can find a shimmering lake of transparent blue water. And you will feast your eyes on the geologic formations -stalactites and stalagmites- that take thousands of years to be formed. There are also farms that you can visit and see many kinds of animals, like exquisite birds (tuiuizs and tucanos)and great waterfalls.
People who are looking for real adventure and stunning views, will enjoy doing rafting and a very popular sport in the local called bsia-cross. Don't forgetting the diving in the Gruta do Mimoso or in the rivers Sucuri or Olho d'agua. These rivers have transparent water that make possible to see many different and beautiful fishes.
There is an agency called Neotropica Tourism that have especial programs designed for children, as smaller jogs that can't have any danger for them.
